Examiner Final Fellowship Examination Royal College of Radiologists for 9 years and external examiner in Hong Kong and Singapore. Author of over 200 papers, review articles, editorials, case reports and book chapters and co-editor of 8 textbooks on musculoskeletal imaging.

Dr Steven James
Consultant Musculoskeletal RadiologistDr Steven James is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at Royal Orthopaedic Hospital,Birmingham. He was appointed in 2006 after completing a fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore in Musculoskeletal and Spinal imaging with an emphasis on interventional techniques. Dr James has developed a particular diagnostic interest in sports related injury, which he continues to develop. He works with a number of local, regional and national professional sports organisations. Dr James has a strong research interest and has over 70 publications in peer reviewed scientific journals on Orthopaedic, Spinal and Sports injury related topics. He has edited 2 textbooks and written numerous book chapters. He regularly lectures at national and international meetings on musculoskeletal and sports injury related topics.

Dr Rajesh Botchu
Consultant Musculoskeletal RadiologistDr Rajesh is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, He was appointed in 2014 after completing his Radiology training at Leicester and Norwich and subspecialty training at ROH, Birmingham, CIM, Geneva and NOC, Oxford in Musculoskeletal and Spinal imaging as well as interventional techniques. Dr Botchu has a strong research interest and has over 410 publications, 89 chapters and is a co-editor of 7 Springer diagnostic imaging books. He was the RCR BSSR Travelling Professor for 2025.

Dr Christine Azzopardi
Consultant Musculoskeletal RadiologistDr Christine Azzopardi is a specialist consultant musculoskeletal radiologist whose NHS base is the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham. She qualified from the University of Malta and completed her postgraduate training in Mater Dei Hospital, Malta. Having obtained the MRCP in 2013 and the FRCR in 2015 Dr. Azzopardi then completed two fellowships in musculoskeletal and sarcoma radiology at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham and The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford. Dr Azzopardi was a consultant musculoskeletal radiologist at The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford between June 2018 and August 2019 before joining the sarcoma and radiology team at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham in September 2019. Dr Azzopardi maintains a strong interest in sarcoma imaging and musculoskeletal intervention.
She has co-authored multiple publications and has a keen interest in teaching.

Dr Ibrahim Kanbour
Consultant Musculoskeletal RadiologistDr. Ibrahim Kanbour is a fellowship-trained Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham, with expertise in diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal imaging. He underwent Internal Medicine training in France before undertaking Radiology training in South Wales, UK.
During his radiology training, he was actively involved in postgraduate education, teaching at the National Imaging Academy Wales (NIAW). He remains committed to medical education and currently delivers national radiology teaching across a range of postgraduate educational courses.
Alongside his clinical and educational roles, Dr. Kanbour has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed scientific publications, with research interests spanning musculoskeletal imaging, musculoskeletal oncology, and image-guided interventions.

Dr Hasaam Uldin
Consultant Musculoskeletal RadiologistDr Hasaam Uldin is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. He completed his radiology training with the West Midlands School of Radiology and undertook a specialist fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.
Dr Uldin’s research portfolio consists of over 10 published chapters and over 25 peer-reviewed publications as well as numerous international presentations.
He is actively involved in postgraduate education as the Curriculum Lead as the West Midlands Radiology Academy. He also holds teaching roles with the University of Birmingham, ESSR, and on FRCR examination courses.

Dr Kieran Howard
Consultant RadiologistDr Kieran Howard is a fellowship-trained Consultant Radiologist at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, UK. He trained in the West Midlands with a specialist interest in bone and soft tissue tumours. His work focuses on providing diagnostic, interventional, and image-guided treatment options for musculoskeletal tumours at one of the largest sarcoma centres in Europe.
He has published multiple book chapters and peer-reviewed research articles relating to musculoskeletal tumours and sports injuries, and has presented at international conferences. He has a developing interest in image-guided tumour treatments including cryoablation.
Dr Howard is actively involved in medical education and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. He previously facilitated regional training programmes across the North West Deanery and is currently involved in supervising radiology trainees and delivering teaching to medical students during clinical placements at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. He is also a speaker for a national educational programme on bone and soft tissue tumours.
