Dr Steven James
Consultant Musculoskeletal RadiologistDr Steven James is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at Royal Orthopaedic Hospital,Birmingham. He was appointed in 2006 after completing a fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore in Musculoskeletal and Spinal imaging with an emphasis on interventional techniques. Dr James has developed a particular diagnostic interest in sports related injury, which he continues to develop. He works with a number of local, regional and national professional sports organisations. Dr James has a strong research interest and has over 70 publications in peer reviewed scientific journals on Orthopaedic, Spinal and Sports injury related topics. He has edited 2 textbooks and written numerous book chapters. He regularly lectures at national and international meetings on musculoskeletal and sports injury related topics.
Dr Rajesh Botchu
Consultant Musculoskeletal RadiologistDr Rajesh is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, He was appointed in 2014 after completing his Radiology training at Leicester and Norwich and subspecialty training at ROH, Birmingham, CIM, Geneva and NOC, Oxford in Musculoskeletal and Spinal imaging as well as interventional techniques. Dr Botchu has a strong research interest and has over 50 publications in peer reviewed scientific journals. He has written numerous book chapters.
Dr Anish Patel
Consultant Musculoskeletal RadiologistDr Anish Patel is a Musculoskeletal and interventional radiologist at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham since 2017. Prior to this he was a consultant at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. He undertook his radiology training in the Peninsula Deanery followed by a Fellowship in Musculoskeletal and Interventional Radiology at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham and a clinical observership at IOP in Melbourne, Australia. His interests include bone and soft tissue tumour imaging and musculoskeletal intervention. He has over 20 publications and a number of book chapters.
Dr Jennifer Murphy
Consultant Musculoskeletal RadiologistDr Jennifer Murphy is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham. Dr Murphy completed Radiology training in Ireland before completing fellowships in Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. She was appointed as Consultant at Russell’s Hall Hospital in 2020 before taking up a position at Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in 2022. Dr Murphy has a strong interest in teaching and research, with several publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters.
Dr Christine Azzopardi
Consultant Musculoskeletal RadiologistDr Christine Azzopardi is a specialist consultant musculoskeletal radiologist whose NHS base is the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham. She qualified from the University of Malta and completed her postgraduate training in Mater Dei Hospital, Malta. Having obtained the MRCP in 2013 and the FRCR in 2015 Dr. Azzopardi then completed two fellowships in musculoskeletal and sarcoma radiology at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham and The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford. Dr Azzopardi was a consultant musculoskeletal radiologist at The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford between June 2018 and August 2019 before joining the sarcoma and radiology team at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham in September 2019. Dr Azzopardi maintains a strong interest in sarcoma imaging and musculoskeletal intervention.
She has co-authored multiple publications and has a keen interest in teaching.
